The American Harp Foundation

Thanks to the generosity of recent donors, the Foundation is pleased to announce the Lucile Lawrence Award for 2025. This virtual competition will include a prize of $3000 for study of the harp at the undergraduate or graduate level. Application and information will be posted on the AHF website in January of 2025. The deadline for applications and supporting materials will be May 1, 2025.

The purpose of the Lucile Lawrence Award Fund is to provide scholarships for deserving harp students and to help fund worthwhile projects that honor and perpetuate Miss Lawrence’s legacy, and that promote the harp in the world.

STIPULATIONS

In order to preserve and ensure the purpose and donor intent of The Lucile Lawrence Fund, the Fund shall be overseen and administered exclusively by the American Harp Foundation.

Criteria for awarding a scholarship from the Lucile Lawrence Fund:

  • The applicant must be studying the harp at the undergraduate or graduate-school level of an accredited or otherwise approved college, university, or conservatory, and must present official proof of matriculation in such an institution and program of study.
  • The applicant must demonstrate sufficient academic and/or musical merit and promise of benefit from receiving such an award from the Fund.
  • A recipient may only receive one award per lifetime.

The applicant will submit the following:

  • A summary of current musical and/or academic accomplishments
  • Certification of matriculation in an appropriate academic institution and program of study
  • The recommendation of her/his teacher(s) or others with sufficient qualifications to evaluate the applicant on the applicable criteria
  • A recording derived from a recent performance
